According to the Telecommunications Carriers Association, the number of subscribers to mobile Internet services in Japan has reached 79.75 million. According to an announcement by the advertising agency Aun Consulting, in 2006, the market for PC-based search engine advertisements increased to 83.8 billion yen, and it is forecast to reach 105.1 billion yen in 2007. In 2004, the size of the mobile commerce market, narrowly defined as mostly merchandise sales, reached 201.3 billion yen (according to documents released by the Mobile Content Forum).
